Wolfgang Eckert was born in Germany in 1968.
He studied piano and composition among others at the Meistersinger-Conservatory in Nuremberg and Peter Feuchtwanger in London.
He published recordings through the British label Postern Park Digital and gives concerts playing classical piano as well as historical keyboards.
He composed the music for several radio dramas and shortfilms, and his personal views and art of improvisation were shown in "Hammerzart", a documentary from Edina Kontsek about piano improvisation.
In 2008 he composed the soundtrack to "The Puppeteer of Havana".
